How to unclog pipes in a mobile home

Hi guys welcome back to this small blog of mine, happy to have you here today! So as of today we get into a nasty issue, clogged pipes. If you are having hard times with your pipes at home you came in the right place to solve the issue. There are several methods you could use and each of them requires some tools or materials, according to the way you choose. I chose to give you first some natural remedies and then some solutions which require a bit more of work so that you can start with the first one and then go on to the next one if something doesn’t work.

Natural remedies for natural issues

It may happen that sometimes your pipe is clogged just because something went inside the drain hole and it’s now stuck in. Usually these things are either small pieces of food or water sediments.

Especially when you are in a mobile home and maybe you are even far from cities or any store, you really don’t want to get clogged pipes in your home as you might not have the right tools to fix this problem. Lucky for you there are natural remedies which you can use to unclog pipes. I alway recommend to try these methods first as you might solve the problem quicker than expected and avoid producing any kind of waste or unreciclable material. Plus you get an easy remedy for a low budget, not too bad ain’t it? So let’s get to the point.

One of the first natural remedies is to mix in a bowl wine vinegar and lemon. Then mix it with hot water (but not boiling, we don’t want to crack our pipes). After this, pour it down the drain hole, where you think the problem is, and let it stay for a while. Do it at night before going to bed so you know that no more water will flow. In this way you’ll let the mix stay and get rid of the possible block inside the pipes. It is an easy and natural remedy which can always be useful. If you want to act in a stronger way you can also add a bit of bicarbonate into the drain hole, and then pour the mixture into the hole. And don’t worry if you see white bubbles coming out of the drain hole: it’s just the bicarbonate doing it’s business inside the pipes.

Same thing might apply to the WC. In case something is wrong, you need first to slowly wait for the excessive water to flow away, and then apply the mixture inside (remember that it needs to be really hot, but not boiling). Then just try with a flush and see what happens. This method for the WC is quite simple but it may also be riscky, that is why we’ll see another method in the “hard work” section.

But first, let’s adress another big issue for the pipes: frozen pipes.

Frozen pipes

If you live in a mobile home then you are expected to go through all kinds of weather, and same thing for your house as well. Therefore, you want to take good care of your home as you do for yourself. Especially in cold weather, we stay close in our bed, enjoying cup of hot chocolate, and you shoud do the same with your pipes. I know it sounds riddiculus, but it’s true. If your pipes freeze there might be a solid piece of ice blocking the water to flow freely. To prevent it (or to melt it down if it already happened) you might want to use the Heat tape! That is basically a tale that you can wrap around the pipes. This tape is connected to the electricity in your house and it will warm up for its full lenght, functioning as a warm douvet for your pipes. Here is the link that better explain the functioning system and where to get the cheapes ones.

Using harder methods

Ok so if these natural remedies are not working the it means that there is something more or something harder that needs more attentions from us. In this case you’ll need some extra tools for this job.

In case your bathroom sink is clogged, it may be due to the hairs stuck in it, and that would be hard to remove with natural methods as they tend to be quite hard to flush away. So you can use a snake: this is a small tool made just to remove things from the drain hole. They snake through the drain hole and push or pull clogs through. I would usually recommend hand snakes as they are easy to use and you don’y need much strength to use them. However, if you feel there’s something more you can pick some professional snakes online which will remove anything.

As of the bathroom toilet, you can either use the average plunger or the toilet auger. The first one is the classic one, really easy to use and quite reliable, though things may get a bit dirty as you’ll have to use gloves and hope things do not come out of the toilet. The second one is a safe method to remove almost any issue down the hole.

For any other issue or problem here there’s a link to a short video with some useful information and tips to use just in case.

I hope you’re satisfied with this article and the tips you’ve read here to solve your daily problems in your mobile home. Stay in touch for some other articles coming in the next days and in the meantime take care (of yourself and your home). Cheers!
